Lacryma Crhisti Wine Vinegar

Made from grapes grown on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius near Naples, Lacryma Christi wine takes its name from the ancient tale recounted by John Milton in *Paradise Lost*, which tells of the time when Lucifer and the angels were cast out of Heaven. As soon as Lucifer was cast out, he seized a piece of Paradise and, as he fell, took it with him; he let it fall upon the coast of Italy at the foot of Vesuvius, where it framed the Bay of Naples. Seeing this loss, the story goes, Jesus wept, and his tears bathed those heavenly slopes. Where they fell, vines grew miraculously, becoming the vineyards from which Lacryma Christi is produced.
